Lower Operational Costs

HealthCare Simulation South Carolina (HCSSC) scenarios support lower operational costs.  Utilization is low and operational costs are high when simulation requires a highly trained simulation specialist or teacher to run each simulator.  While many teachers are willing to use simulation-based education, most are not willing or do not have time to become an expert at running a simulator. One simulation specialist can support multiple concurrent simulations when teachers can run their own simulators.  This greatly lowers operational costs. For example, the Medical University of South Carolina HealthCare Simulation Center, with 15 training rooms supported by three simulation specialist, has a yearly utilization rate over 65 percent, and some months over 90 percent.  Operational labor costs are kept to $65 per hour per room.
